Gunite Pools
Custom Gunite Pools Built to Last
Why Build a Gunite Pool?
Durability
Gunite is the most durable, structurally sound, and longest-lasting type of pool material available. Gunite pools, if built properly, can last up to 100 years, which makes them a permanent fixture in the backyard. The finished surface—such as marcite, pebble, or quartz—naturally wears over time and can typically last 12–20 years. Gunite pools are constructed with flexibility to move with the earth and remain structurally sound. Even in the unique Lowcountry, where water tables can make construction more complex, you won’t have to worry about replacing it for as long as you have your home.
Depth
The depth of a pool is often limited by the construction technique and material. Gunite pools can be constructed without worrying about depth due to the great strength achieved using this procedure. It also eliminates limitations on steel and concrete design.
Customization
Gunite pools are custom designed and hand-built on-site, which means you have more flexibility for your pool’s shape, and incorporating more of your outdoor living space than other pool materials. This means that it’s not just a pool; it’s a focal point. Many of our clients choose to hardscape for an outdoor kitchen, sitting area, or fire pit to polish off the perfect Lowcountry entertaining space.Â

FAQs
Q: How long does a plunge fiberglass pool take to install?
A: Most plunge pool projects take about 4-6 weeks to complete from the start of excavation to final inspection.
Here’s a quick breakdown:
- Utility Mark Out and Pool Layout
- Installation & Plumbing (5–10 business days): We excavate, set the pool, plumb it to the equipment pad, and complete all required inspections during this phase
- Finishing Work (2–4 weeks): Hardscaping, fencing, and landscaping add time depending on your specific design choices and contractor availability.
- Final Inspection: After a walkthrough of the pool and equipment with homeowner, the final inspection with the town / county will be organized to close out the project.Â
Weather, inspections, and scope of work can impact timing, but we work hard to keep your project moving and communicate along the way.Â
Q: What is a Gunite pool and how long is the process?
A: Gunite pools offer a unique and durable option that allows you to customize your pool to your exact specifications. Gunite pools are constructed with a combination of concrete, sand, and water, creating a mixture that is sprayed onto a steel-reinforced frame.
